Nic has been racing for 12 years with
the last four years in Europe.
In 1999 he raced for an Italian Under
23 Team, with an associate scholarship to the Australian Institute of
Sport. He surprised quite a few people with some top 10 results
and gained a place on the Australian National Team for the Prutour (
Tour of Britain ).
In 2000 he was a member of the
Australian Under 23 Team based in Italy, racing across Europe and in the
Tour of Japan. In 2001 he raced with Cycling 2000 in Holland and
had a good year with a victory, a second place and fourth overall in the
Neo competition.
In 2002, he was with Bloks Wielerteam
/ Team Nijdam and had a consistent year with another victory and a few
top ten placings. In late December, he competed in the The Tour of
South China Sea (UCI 2.5), where he won the 3rd stage in a bunch sprint.
In early 2003, he finished third in
the Australian Criterium Championship.
